Womb wisdom massage period pain

Does your time of the month leave you in agony for days?

While this is a COMMON symptom of menstruation, it is not NORMAL.

Yes, you heard me right, painful periods are not normal.

Problem is we have been conditioned to believe that since we were young teens, so many women just accept it as part of life.

Primary dysmenorrhea represents menstrual pain that is not associated with any other conditions, while secondary dysmenorrhea is a result of another medical condition, such as endometriosis or fibroids.

Other medical conditions can include:

  • High prostaglandins - which is a chemical that causes the uterus to contract.
  • Endometriosis
  • Adenomyosis
  • Fibroids
  • Cysts
  • Underactive thyroid

But you may also have painful periods, without having any of these underlying conditions:

High inflammation, often caused by inflammatory foods or the liver not working optimally to detox out estrogens.

In Eastern medicine (chinese & ayurvedic) painful periods are explained by nutritional deficiencies or excesses as some of the culprits that lead to “stagnation,” a term in Eastern medicine linked to the absence of blood circulation, which is seen as a root cause for many health issues, including menstrual cramps.

I have seen it first hand with many of my clients, once we get the blood circulating again, the pain reduces.

The 3 tools I use to improve blood flow:

  1. Abdominal/Womb massage
  2. Castor Oil packs
  3. Essential oils

Massage is an obvious choice when it comes to increasing circulation and specialised techniques on the abdomen can really help.  I don't advise doing womb massage during your period but do it the rest of the month.

Castor oil is an extremely healing oil and mixed with the application of heat can really get blood circulating to the area, as well as providing a detoxifying effect on the liver.

Add essential oils into the castor oil and you've got an even more powerful tool!

My top 3 essential oils for blood flow are:

  • Eucalyptus – one of the compounds, eucalyptol works as a potent vasodilator, to promote better circulation by relaxing the blood vessels. This helps more blood circulate through them, improving circulation in the process.
  • Cypress – can help to flush out toxins from the body, something that can promote better overall health as well as improved blood flow. It can also help the veins contract, making it easier to stimulate blood flow. It may also help alleviate some of the triglycerides that can form and restrict blood flow.
  • Ginger – can help to warm the skin and vessels, promoting circulation as it does so. It also contains antioxidants that can help flush out toxins and reduce inflammation of the blood vessels, improving blood flow throughout the body. It’s effective at reducing pain as well as improving circulation.
